The
Conservatory Concert Choir focuses on the preparation and performance of traditional
and non-traditional choral repertoire, including larger works with winds, keyboard
and orchestra. Another emphasis area for this ensemble is the continued development
of musicianship and the synthesis of component parts of complete music training
that one accesses in the Conservatory. This 75-voice mixed ensemble is made up primarily
of undergraduate music majors in specialty areas that include vocal performance,
music education, music therapy, piano performance and guitar performance. The group
is also open to all students at UMKC, and welcomes students who have selected majors
outside music. The ensemble appears frequently at the local and state levels in
a wide variety of exciting performance venues.
Canticum Novum is the select undergraduate vocal chamber ensemble. This ensemble
focuses on challenging repertoire for smaller SATB chorus and maintains an extensive
and active performing schedule.

The Conservatory Singers functions as the Conservatory's top-tier vocal ensemble.
Made up of highly select Juniors, Seniors and Graduate students, this ensemble provides
the opportunity to prepare a variety of works in many styles and to present performances
of the highest quality. The Conservatory Singers regularly performs in some of Kansas
City's finest venues an collaborates regularly with local and national musicians
of the highest professional level.

Bella Voce is the UMKC women's ensemble founded in
2005 to provide students the opportunity to sing outstanding repertoire, representing
a broad range of styles and periods. The group is comprised of about 40 singers
formed by the most selected undergraduate women who are majoring in various areas
including music education, voice, piano, music therapy, and musical theatre. The
ensemble is designed to cultivate and encourage the development of young musicians
who aspire to enhance their musicianship within a choral setting. Under the direction
of Mariana Farah, Bella Voce successfully represented the UMKC Conservatory at the
2007 Missouri Music Educators Association Convention and the 2008 Southwestern Division
American Choral Directors Association Convention in Kansas City.
