Keyboard Studies

Professor and student playing the piano

Career success as a pianist means developing abilities and expanding possibilities as a soloist, collaborator, and teacher. Piano performance degrees at the bachelor, masters and doctoral levels offer pedagogy, literature, collaborative piano, and chamber music experiences to students. Performance opportunities are available in venues both on and off campus, and include solo recitals, chamber music and collaborative recitals, studio classes, and master classes. Guest artists have included Jonathan Biss, Vladimir Feltsman, Richard Goode, Ivan Moravec, Frederic Rzewski, Andre-Michel Schub, Peter Serkin and Lars Vogt.

In 2004, the University recognized the piano program's premiere status with funding to support student tickets to piano concerts, engage guest pianists for master classes, and help our students participate in summer festivals and in national and international competitions.
