Kansas City Bassist and Audio Engineer, James Albright is one of the busiest bassists in the region. Among the groups with whom he performs are the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, the Kansas City Bass Quartet and The Bon Ton Soul Accordion band. He holds principal positions with the Northland Symphony and Liberty Symphony in the Kansas City area. He is a first call musician for the region's top artists. James holds a Music degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (1991), which included coursework in music, audio production, and business administration. While in Nebraska he began playing in clubs and halls across the country as a jazz bassist, and also honed his skills as a classical bassist by performing with the Lincoln Symphony and the Omaha Symphony. James now holds positions on the jazz bass faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, bass/jazz ensemble instructor at William Jewell College, and private instruction at his home studio. He is equally at home in Jazz, Classical, Rock, Country, and Popular music styles, on both upright and electric bass. James is also a skilled audio engineer and session producer. He owns and operates an upscale project studio, which interfaces with full-scale studios and home studios alike. Live sound engineering is also a regular part of his schedule, including everything from club dates, to concert halls. Whether generating custom bass tracks, engineering a show, or producing large multitrack works; versatility, creativity, and great sound are trademarks of Albright’s gifts.
