The mission of the Friends of the Conservatory of Music is to:
Provide vital support for the scholarships and fellowships for Conservatory students;
Expand public awareness of the important achievements of the Conservatory;
Strengthen the partnerships between the Conservatory and the Kansas City community;
Provide members with access to Conservatory activities and resources.

While providing financial support for Conservatory of Music scholarships, members of Friends of the Conservatory also receive benefits and privileges, which put them up close and personal with both students and faculty.
Membership gives you the opportunity to:
Attend first-class concerts, such as one by UMKC Conservatory doctoral candidate Stanislav loudenitch, winner of the Gold Medal in the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition;
Interact with scholarship recipients;
Be part of premier social events, such as the Crescendo! gala, which is the principal source of Friends scholarship funds;
Meet other arts enthusiasts.
Even though the UMKC Conservatory of Music enjoys wide-spread prestige, there is still fierce competition among music schools for top students. Many times scholarships are the deciding factor, and the Conservatory does not want to risk losing these students to other music schools and other communities.
There is a way to help deserving Conservatory students with merit-based scholarships. Friends of the Conservatory - a premier organization dedicated to supporting Conservatory students and helping ensure the future of music and dance - has provided more than $1 million in scholarships since 1996 from membership dues and fundraising events.
