Each winter a two-day adjudicated festival is held on the campus of UMKC featuring combos and bands from high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the Midwest. The student groups are given feedback about their performances, clinicians present workshops, and the weekend is capped with the Salisbury Memorial Scholarship Concert featuring a big-name jazz artist, and the UMKC Conservatory Concert Jazz Band led by Jazz Studies Program director, Bobby Watson, internationally renowned saxophonist and composer/arranger.
