Conservatory Prof. David Thurmaier Wins Excellence in Mentoring Award


The Conservatory is pleased to note that David Thurmaier, Associate Professor of Music Theory, been selected as one of three inaugural recipients of UMKC's Award for Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Researchers, Scholars, and Artists.

"As evident from the nomination packet submitted by your colleagues and the students you have mentored, you bring a keen sense of possibility and innovation to the work of mentoring the next generation of researchers and artists.  Your pedagogical creativity and energy  is truly inspiring," notes Jane Greer, Director of Undergraduate Research and Assoc. Professor of English and Women’s & Gender Studies, UMKC Conservatory.

The award is accompanied by a commemorative wall plaque and monetary award, both of which will be presented to Dr. Thurmaier at the campus-wide Symposium of Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship, Thursday, April 21, 2016, Pierson Auditorium.  The awards ceremony will take place between 6:00 and 7:00 pm.  

Dr. Thurmaier's photograph will also be displayed on the Celebration of Mentoring Wall in Miller Nichols Library.
