UMKC Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet Wins 2015 Artist Presentation Society Auditions


The UMKC Conservatory Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet was one of the two winners of this year’s St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Auditions, April 11, 2015 in St. Louis, MO.  The ensemble was among 9 finalists selected from an initial field of 22 soloists and ensembles.  They will be presented in a full recital in St. Louis on the Artist Presentation Society’s 2015-16 concert series.  

This has been an outstanding year for the Quintet.  In addition to winning the Artist Presentation Society Auditions, they were National Finalists in the 2014-15 MTNA Chamber Music Competition, having won the State Round (Missouri) in November and the West Central Divisional Round in January.

The members of the Quintet are:

SANDRA FERNÁNDEZ VIZCAÍNO, flute  (1st yr. DMA student of  Mary Posses)
GREGORY STEAD, oboe  (1st yr. DMA student of Barbara Bishop)
TREVOR STEWART, clarinet  (1st yr. MM student of Jane Carl)
NATALIE HIGGINS, horn   (3rd yr. DMA student of Martin Hackleman)
JOSHUA DRAVES KELLERMAN, bassoon  (1st yr. MM student of Marita Abner)
