UMKC Students Succeed In Divisional Rounds of MTNA Competitions
The Conservatory is pleased to note that six UMKC Conservatory Instrumental Studies Division students just became National Finalists in the 2014-15 MTNA Young Artist Brass, Young Artist Woodwind, and Wind Chamber Music Competitions, after winning the West Central Divisional Rounds Jan. 9–11, 2015, MTNA West Central Divisional Conference, Fargo, ND; and a Conservatory Keyboard Studies DIvision student was named Alternate in the Divisional Round of the Young Artist Piano competition.

Horn: NATALIE HIGGINS, third year DMA student of Prof. Martin Hackleman
Bassoon: JOSHUA DRAVES KELLERMAN, first year MM student of Prof. Marita Abner

Conservatory Associate Adjunct Prof. Daniel Velicer was the accompanist for both Natalie Higgins and Michael O'Brien.
Other UMKC participants in the Divisional Conference included Prof. Richard Williams, who served as an MTNA Staff Accompanist for various competitions.
The students won the State Round of these competitions in November 2014. In each competition, one winner from each state advances to the Divisionals and one winner from each of the MTNA's seven divisions advances to the National Finals.
