Mara Gibson and Jodie Lin Win Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award
The Conservatory is pleased to note that its Conservatory in the Schools program, under the direction of Conservatory Academy director and associate teaching professor Mara Gibson is honored with the Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award. Gibson is invited to Yale University’s 2015 Symposium on Music in Schools and will attend the symposium with Conservatory alum Jodie Lin, (BME, 1990, MM instrumental conducting, 1992) Fine Arts Coordinator of the Kansas City, Kansas School District. Gibson and Lin will receive the Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award for their work with the Conservatory Academy's Conservatory in the Schools program.
Composers in the School was chosen, as Yale notes, “because it represents the characteristics of a quality program that we are seeking to study and celebrate during the Yale Symposium.”
This year’s symposium is June 4–7, 2015, and includes workshops, concerts, and panel discussions, culminating in a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize winner and Yale School of Music faculty, composer David Lang.
The Symposium and Award are funded by an endowment at the School of Music supported by the Yale College Class of 1957, some of whom will attend the Symposium as guests.
