Composition Student Jiyoun Chung Selected for RED NOTE New Music Festival
The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that DMA Composition student Jiyoun Chung is one of eight composers selected for the RED NOTE New Music Festival Composition Workshop. The eight were chosen from the 82 applicants. The first round of anonymous judging was conducted by members of the Ilinois State University Composition faculty, and the final round was judged by Lee Hyla.
Jiyoun will work with Lee Hyla and her new work will be premiered by the Ensemble Dal Niente at the festival, March 30–April 3, 2014, on the ISU campus, Normal.
The other composers are Luciano Leite Barbosa (Boston University); Paul Frucht (The Juilliard School); Ian Gottlieb (Yale University); Pierce Gradone (University of Chicago); Emily Koh (Brandeis University); Keito Nakahori (San Francisco Conservatory of Music); and Lorenzo Restagno (Universita degli Studi di Torino).
