Conservatory Composition Alum Timothy Roy Wins First Prize in Mixed Media Category of 2013 Prix Destellos

Conservatory alum (MM Composition, 2013) won first prize for his piece Wunderkind, in the mixed media category of the sixth annual international competition of Electroacoustic Composition and Visual-music, for the Foundation Destellos.

"The Foundation Destellos was created in 2007 in Mar del Plata, Argentine, by initiative of Dr Elsa Justel. It is a private and independent organization with juridical status. Conducted by an administration board and a relevant team of Argentine and foreign artists and searchers. One of the main points of the Foundation Destellos is the promotion and diffusion of Electroacoustic music in all its branches. To develop its objectives the Foundation has established a collaborator's International network related to music creation. Across this network are spread the prized works every year. In that way is created a musical flux as an important stimulus for composers and at the same time giving visibility to the electroacoustic genre."

Roy is director of music, Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora, KS and Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, KS.
