Mauricio Salguero, Conservatory Alumnus, Performs in Washington, DC

Mauricio Salguero, (DMA and AC clarinet performance, 2011), who studied with Jane Carl, has been living in Washington, DC since getting his degrees from UMKC and developing his career as a performer and educator, performing what he refers to as family music.

He notes, "Even though my career is a bit different now from what I expected, I find again and again that I am really building on things from my experience at UMKC, and I really appreciate everything I learned and all of the support that I received."

Salguero's family performance has been very well-received.  He has performed at Washington DC's National Theatre and the Smithsonian Institution. Read more about his educational initiative/performance here.

The Washington Post and the Maryland Gazette have covered his work.  Salguero is preparing to release a children's music CD and a CD of music for clarinet and electronics.

During his time at UMKC's Conservatory Salguero was the original coordinator for the Academy's Musical Bridges outreach program and also taught in the Academy.

Congratulations, Mauricio.
