Mara Gibson, Academy Director and Violist Michael Hall Present Concert Series

Composer Mara Gibson, who directs the Conservatory's Community Academy, and violist Michael Hall present a series of colloquia and concerts at the UVA McIntire Department of Music, the Salon Series, Philadelphia, PA, Ithaca College, and Bennington College, March 22–27, 2013.

In 2011, Michael premiered Mara's Canopy, especially composed for him, at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in celebration of Roxy Paine's Ferment. Since then, the violist and composer have recorded and released Canopy, and participated in several new projects including Mara's new trio, Moments, for clarinet, viola and piano. The two have presented together in Bangkok, Kansas City, Chicago and at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The tour additionally features compositions by Matthew Burtner, Elliott Carter, Kee Yong Chong, Nico Muhly, Conservatory alum Narong Prangcharoen, Marta Ptaszynska, Chinary Ung, and Jogn Harbison.
