Composition Alum Dr. Hsiao-Lan Wang Wins International Competition and Has Piece Performed in Japan

About the Conservatory

Dr. Hsiao-Lan Wang, (MM Composition), will have her MM thesis, Etude for Orchestra, performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra (Japan), conducted by Dr. Wang, July 31, 2011 as part of the Asian Music Festival. The host is the Japan Federation of Composers.

She has also received a chamber music commission from the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, for whom she will compose a piano trio and have it workshopped, performed, published, and a CD released by the TSO.

Dr. Wang is the president of the IAWM (she earned her DMA from University of North Texas, Denton), and she has been an Assistant Professor at Montana State University.
