UMKC Conservatory Flute Students Win Top Prizes At MTNA Divisionals

About the Conservatory

UMKC Conservatory flute performance students of the Conservatory's Mary Posses won two of the three top prizes in the West Central Divisional Round of the 2010-11 MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition.

Senior BM/Flute Performance major Hannah Porter was named winner. Katie Howard (2nd-year MM/Flute Performance) won Honorable Mention (3rd Place). The Divisionals, in which State Round Winners from each of the West Central Division's 8 states compete, were January 15, 2011 at the MTNA West Central Division Conference, Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD. Ms. Porter had won the State Round in North Dakota (her home state); Ms. Howard was the Missouri State Round Winner. (State Competitions were Fall 2010.) Ms. Porter will compete in the National Final Round with the winners from the other six MTNA Divisions.

The finals are at the 2011 MTNA National Conference Milwaukee, WI, March 26-30.
