Mara Gibson, UMKC Conservatory, Premieres New Composition at Nelson-Atkins Museum Event


The UMKC Conservatory and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art celebrate the installation of Roxy Paine's Ferment with a performance of Canopy, a new composition by Mara Gibson, PhD, of the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance.

Immediately following, Director Julián Zugazagoitia sits down for a lively discussion with Martin Friedman, Hall Family Foundation consultant for the Kansas City Sculpture Park, in whose honor Ferment is gifted.

The FREE event is Friday, April 29, 2011, 6-7 p.m., Atkins Auditorium, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Chicago-based violist, Michael Hall will premiere Gibson's new composition.
