Conservatory Presents Cosi fan tutte, Nov. 18-21, 2014

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to present its fall opera: Mozart's Così fan tutte, November 18–21, 7:30 p.m., White Recital Hall.  This year the opera is guest directed by John de los Santos and guest conducted by John Baril, both of whom bring years of experience and new energy to our production.

De los Santos writes, "Così fan tutte is Mozart's funniest opera. In addition to the gorgeous music, it contains characters and situations that could easily be found in a modern sitcom or even reality show. The alternate title is "The School for Lovers," so this production is set in today's hectic college life amongst the rivalry between the fraternities and sororities. A wager is made to determine whether the girlfriends of two of the most popular guys can remain faithful when their boyfriends go off to war. Deception, disguises, and desire all ensue as the lovers attempt to discover if cosi fan tutte (all women are like that)."
