Hyunki Yoon, Piano DMA Student Wins The American Prize
The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that DMA piano student, Hyunki Yoon, who studies with Robert Weirich, is the 2014 winner of The American Prize in Piano, college/university solo division. Mr. Yoon was selected from applications reviewed summer 2014 from across the United States. The American Prize is a series of new, non-profit, competitions unique in scope and structure, designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States based on submitted recordings. The American Prize was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually in many areas of the performing arts. Complete information on the website.
Hyunki Yoon is a native of Seoul, Republic of Korea. He completed a BM in piano performance as a scholarship recipient at Chugye University for the Arts in Seoul. Winner of the 1999 Eumyun Piano Competition and the 1998 Music Education Newspaper Competition, he has participated in concerts as soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist in Germany, Korea, and the United States. He completed a Master of Music in piano performance as a full scholarship recipient at University of Missouri-Columbia.
