DMA Flute Alumna Sophia Tegart Gets Teaching Position

Sophia Tegart (DMA, flute performance, 2011) has been appointed Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Pacific University, Forest Grove, OR, near Portland.  She will continue to teach at two other universities in the Portland area:  George Fox University (Newberg, OR), where she is Instructor of Flute and Music History, and Concordia University (Portland, OR), where she is Adjunct Instructor of Flute.  Prior teaching experience includes a Fall 2012 semester-long sabbatical replacement position in flute at the University of Idaho.

Before attending UMKC, where she held the flute fellowship in the UMKC Conservatory Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet and studied with Mary Posses, Tegart earned a BM in Flute Performance and a BA in History at Washington State University, and an MM in Flute Performance and an MA in Musicology at the University of Oregon.  She is founder and flutist of The Blue Box Ensemble, a Portland chamber group.
