Composition Student Wang A Mao Selected as Emerging Composer


The Conservatory is pleased to announce that second year DMA Composition student Wang A Mao is selected as one of the seven emerging composers for American Composer Orchestra's 23rd Annual Underwood New Music Readings.

Her orchestral work Characters in Theatre was chosen from an international pool of more than 400 applicants from seven countries and 37 states ranging in ages 9–84.

On June 6 and 7, 2014 American Composers Orchestra holds its reading sessions conducted by Music Director George Manahan at New York City's The DiMenna Center for Classical Music.

The 23rd Annual Underwood New Music Readings are under the direction of ACO’s Artistic Director, composer Derek Bermel, with ACO’s Artistic Director Laureate Robert Beaser, Olly Wilson, and Julia Wolfe as mentor composers. This event is also part of the New York Philharmonic’s inaugural NY PHIL BIENNIAL.
