Combined Choral Concert Raises More than 10K for Children
The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that the Conservatory Concert Choir, directed by Charles Robinson, was invited to collaborate with the Village Presbyterian Church (Prairie Village, KS) and the William Jewell Concert Choir (Liberty, MO), in For the Children, the fourth annual concert to benefit Operation Breakthrough. The choirs performed Haydn's beautiful The Creation, H. 21 No. 2, April 6, 7 p.m., in Helzberg Hall.
While the concert was free, donations to Operation Breakthrough were gladly accepted and the concert raised more than $10,000 for Operation Breakthrough.
That same weekend the Chicago Children's Choir visited UMKC via the Conservatory's Music Therapy and Music Education department, to perform with Forever Young, directed by Melita Belgrave. During their visit, the children of the Chicago Children's Choir volunteered at Operation Breakthrough, making the entire weekend one of outreach, compassion, volunteerism, and sharing that co-mingled generations and geographies. For more information, please contact:
