Composition DMA Student Nicholas Omiccioli Named a 2014 Mizzou International Composers Festival Resident


Nicholas S. Omiccioli, a DMA composition student at the UMKC Conservatory has been named a 2014 Mizzou International Composers Festival Resident, which is part of M.U.'s New Music Initiative.  He is one of eight resident composers chosen through a portfolio application process.

This is the fifth annual Mizzou International Composers Festival.  Scheduled for July 21–26, 2014, in Columbia, MO, the festival features world premieres by the eight selected resident composers. The festival includes a series of public concerts as well as workshops and master classes.  The festival's guest composers include Beat Furrer, professor of composition at Austria's Graz University of Music and Dramatic Arts, and Nico Muhly, a Juilliard alum and Phillip Glass protege.  New music group Alarm Will Sound, directed by artistic director Alan Pierson, is the ensemble in residence.
