UMKC Conservatory Vocal Students Excel at MET Auditions

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to announce that Conservatory students were winners at the district Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions, Jan. 11, White Recital Hall.

For more than six decades, this competition for exceptionally talented singers from across the country has helped launch the careers of some of opera¹s greatest stars, including Stephanie Blythe, Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Ben Heppner, Patricia Racette, and Deborah Voigt and the Conservatory's Vinson Cole—as well as, more recently, Lawrence Brownlee and Angela Meade.

April Martin, Artist's Certificate student, was one of the three winners and will compete in the regionals. Samantha Gossard, Artist's Certificate student, and Brandon Russell (BM, vocal performance, BME, choral, 2013) won encouragement awards.  The regionals are January 25, White Recital Hall.

All three study with Vinson Cole.  Brandon also studied with Raymond Feener.
