The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that jazz students Matt Baldwin, junior; Nate Nall, junior; Adam Schlozman, sophomore; Joel Stratton, junior; and Zach Morrow, freshman; have been invited by blind audition to perform at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival and will compete for a slot on the main festival. The Next Generation Jazz Festival takes place in historic downtown Monterey, CA, March 28–30, 2014.

Now in its 10th year in downtown Monterey, the Next Generation Jazz Festival began in 1971, evolving from Monterey Jazz Festival’s California High School Jazz Competition on the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Now named the Next Generation Jazz Festival Presented by Monterey Jazz Festival, the weekend salute to the future of jazz has expanded to include middle school, conglomerate school, and college-level musicians and vocalists.

UMKC's Jazz Studies is co-chaired by Bobby Watson and Dan Thomas.

Congratulations!
