Conservatory Flute Alum Krista Jobson Appointed to Faculty Position at University of Texas-Pan American
Krista Jobson (MM Flute Performance 2007, DMA Flute Performance 2011) has been appointed to the full-time tenure-track position assistant professor of flute and music theory at the University of Texas-Pan American, Edinburg. Dr. Jobson has been teaching at UTPA for the past year as a non-tenure-track lecturer. She was awarded the newly created tenure-track position after a national search.
Before moving to Texas, fall 2011, Dr. Jobson was principal flutist of the Topeka Symphony and assistant director of Heartland Chamber Music Festival. As a student, she was co-principal flutist of the UMKC Conservatory Orchestra and Wind Symphony. She held the flute fellowship of the UMKC Conservatory Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet, 2007–2010, and a graduate assistantship as music librarian of the Conservatory Orchestra, 2010–2011.
Since 2010, she has been a faculty member at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Twin Lake, MI. She is also principal flutist of The Trade Winds, the recording ensemble that records all new Carl Fischer releases for band. Dr. Jobson studied with Dr. Mary Posses at UMKC and with Dr. Christopher Vaneman at Converse College, where she earned a 2005 BM.
