Conservatory Composers Chen Yi and Zhou Long Win First Prize in China National Composition Competition
Symphony Humen 1839, a 4-movement symphonic work composed by Chen Yi and Zhou Long, commissioned by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and conducted by Long Yu, has won the first prize at the 16th Annual China National Composition Competition.
The piece premiered Sept.13, 2009 at the Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangzhou, China,
The China National Symphony will perform this winning work at the China National Center for the Performing Arts, Feb. 13, 2012, Beijing, China.
