Conservatory Dancers and Faculty Perform and Teach at American College Dance Asso. Conference
The Conservatory dance department traveled to the the American College Dance Association Conference for the Central Region, Anderson, Indiana, March 11–15, 2016.
The department presented three choreographic works at the conference. Sabrina Madison-Cannon presented in the Informal Concert and student Leah Korn and Mary Pat Henry presented choreographic works in the four adjudicated concerts. Paula Weber and Gary Abbott taught classes there. Faculty DeeAnna Hiett, who coordinates the dance trips, was also in attendance.
Twenty students and five faculty members traveled to the conference.
There were 44 works presented in the adjudicated concerts for consideration for the gala concert. The adjudicators selected 11 works for the gala concert and Mary Pat Henry's work Esperando Nin Silencio was chosen for the gala concert.
The UMKC Conservatory was very well represented at the conference and many attendees remarked about how beautiful Conservatory dancers were. One adjudicator said "I have rarely seen dancers at such a professional level before."
