Conservatory Prof. Andrew Granade Publishes in Award-Winning Book
Andrew Granade, Chair of Composition, Music Theory, and Musicology/Associate Professor of Musicology has published an article in an award-winning book focusing on Joss Whedon, Firefly Revisited: Essays on Joss Whedon’s Classic Series, edited by Michael Goodrum and Philip Smith, Rowman and Littlefield, publishers. The book won the Whedon Studies Association award, known as the Mr. Pointy, for best book in Whedon studies. The award's informal name, "Mr. Pointy," derives from Buffy Summers'—of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame—moniker for her favorite wooden stake.
Dr. Granade's essay is "Speaking Chinese: Music and the Exotic in Firefly."
Granade has a special interest in Joss Whedon's work, especially in the tv program Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the short-lived Firefly. For more information, please contact:
