Conservatory Alumni Crack JazzWeek Charts
The Conservatory's jazz studies department produces fantastic students and alumni and is pleased to note that Matt Kane and the Kansas City Generations Sextet cracked the JazzWeek national radio airplay charts this week, ranking at #50 with the band’s 2015 album Acknowledgement on the Bounce-Step label.
The sextet is Matt Kane, drums (former Conservatory student); Michael Shults, saxophone (DMA ’15, saxophone; BM ’10, saxophone, jazz and studio music); Ben Leifer, bass (former Conservatory student); Hermon Mehari, trumpet (BM ’10, jazz and studio music); Steve Lambert, saxophone (BM ’10, jazz and studio music); and Andrew Ouellette, piano (BM ’12, jazz and studio music).
The album was engineered by Conservatory staff Bob Beck and Jason Scheufler, and features two songs composed by Conservatory jazz faculty member Bobby Watson.For more information, please contact:
