On Saturday, Oct. 22, 8 p.m., Union Station City Stage, 30 West Pershing Road, KCMO, the 2011 Charlotte Street Generative Performing Artist Award Fellows Event will honor the work of playwright/director Kyle Hatley and composer James Mobberley, who received cash awards of $7500 each from Charlotte Street Foundation earlier this year.

The evening will feature live performances of each artist’s work: scenes from Hatley’s People Fall, a brand-new musical about “the fear of death, the psychology of bloodlines and the inescapable hell of consciousness,” and two compositions by Mobberley that merge live and recorded music and sound, and which represent the much larger collection of collaborative works he has participated in over his nearly 30 years in Kansas City.

Charlotte Street Foundation’s Generative Performing Artist Awards recognize Kansas City based artists creating outstanding, original work in the fields of dance, theater, and music. To date, Charlotte Street has distributed more than $500,000 in unrestricted cash awards to outstanding Kansas City artists of all disciplines.
