Pianist Alon Goldstein Joins UMKC Conservatory Faculty

The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is pleased to announce that Alon Goldstein joins our faculty as the Jack Strandberg/Missouri Endowed Chair and Distinguished Visiting Professor in Piano. Mr. Goldstein is an artist of international acclaim, concertizing all over the world and appearing as soloist with nearly every major orchestra.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Alon Goldstein join our faculty. The piano program in the Conservatory has a long tradition of excellence and tremendous community support. An artist of Mr. Goldstein’s caliber will ensure that this program continues to thrive and grow in depth and reputation," notes Dr. Diane Petrella, Interim Dean of the UMKC Conservatory.

He has a strong relationships with the arts in Kansas City, frequently performing on the Friends of Chamber Music series and he is already booked to perform with the Kansas City Symphony in January, 2019. His commitment to teaching and developing young talent is clear, with recent teaching engagements at the Steans Institute of the Ravinia Festival and the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.

Mr. Goldstein is considered by many to be one of the most original and sensitive pianists of his generation, admired for his musical intelligence, dynamic personality, artistic vision and innovative programming. He has played with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, the San Francisco, Baltimore, St. Louis, Dallas, Houston, Toronto and Vancouver symphonies as well as the Israel Philharmonic, London Philharmonic , Los Angeles and Radio France Orchestra. He played under the baton of conductors Zubin Mehta, Herbert Blomstedt, Vladimir Jurowski, Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Peter Oundjian, Yoel Levi, Yoav Talmi, Leon Fleisher and others.
