Conservatory Flute Students Karen Hauge and Hillary Rowley-Weiss Win At MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition
UMKC Conservatory flute students Karen Hauge and Hillary Rowley-Weiss won two of the top three places in Missouri's State Round of the MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition. Ms. Hauge was the Winner; Ms. Rowley-Weiss was awarded Honorable Mention.
Both are second-year MM/flute ferformance students of Mary Posses. Dan Velicer was the pianist for both flutists.
The competition was November 4, 2011 at the MMTA Conference, Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph. Hauge advances to the West Central Divisional Round of the competition January, 2012 at the MTNA West Central Divisional Conference, University of Colorado-Boulder. The Winner of that round will compete in the Final Round, March, 2012 at the MTNA National Conference, New York.
