The UMKC Jazz Festival provides an extraordinary day for instrumental jazz ensembles to learn from world-class jazz musicians and educators. Open to middle school through college/university ensembles, each group performs and receives feedback from festival clinicians on stage (30 minutes total time on/off) and in instrument-specific sessions. This year's festival is in The American Jazz Museum's Blue Room and Gem Theater, located in Kansas City's historic jazz district.

The culminating event of this festival will be a performance by Guest Artist Horizon, featuring Grammy-nominated saxophonist and UMKC Faculty member, Bobby Watson.
