Don't miss the annual Jazz & BBQ hosted by the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance's Jazz Friends October 10, 2010. This exciting fundraiser benefits the renowned Jazz Studies Program at the Conservatory. Leon and Maggie Jacobs are the honorary chairs.

Held at UMKC's Pierson Auditorium in the UMKC University Center, Jazz & BBQ includes Jack Stack Barbeque for dinner, a silent auction and exciting jazz. Performing artists include Conservatory jazz faculty and international jazz great Bobby Watson (Director of Jazz Studies) who leads the award winning UMKC Conservatory Concert Jazz Band. In 2009 the Concert Jazz Band appeared at tue UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival, the largest of its kind and received #1 ratings and a standing ovation. This year the band has been invited to represent Kansas City and perform at KC's sister city Kurashiki, Japan during their festival.

The BBQ dinner and silent auction begin at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the BBQ dinner and concert are $55; concert only tickets are $25. Patron tickets are $90–$2,500. The resevation deadline for dinner tickets is September 24. To purchase tickets call 816-235-1561. Purchased tickets will be held at the registration desk for pickup at the event. A gala party for patrons of Jazz & BBQ is scheduled for October 7.
