Conservatory Violin Student Filip Lazovski Wins First Chancellor's Competition
Congratulations to Artist's Certificate violin student Filip Lazovski, who was named the winner of Chancellor's Competition for his performance of the Samuel Barber Violin Concerto. Richard Jeric, who played the Ravel Piano Concerto in G Major, was named runner-up.
Filip studies with Benny Kim. Filip will perform the Barber with the UMKC Conservatory Orchestra February 22, 2013 under the direction of Robert Olson.
All six finalists (in addition to Filip and Richard, they were Sarah Holmes, violin; James Ryan Morris, bassoon; Amanda Hudnall, clarinet; Chris Williams, horn) performed extremely well. The judges (Aram Demirjian, assistant conductor of the Kansas City Symphony, Janell Weinstock, retired general manager of the Cincinnati Symphony, and Frank Weinstock, retired College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati piano professor and interim dean) were very impressed with the level of playing.
Congratulations.For more information, please contact:
