Daniel Bernard Roumain! He's Back!

He's back! Composer and performer Daniel Bernard Roumain, who did a residency at the UMKC Conservatory in 2012 is back April 24–26, 2013 to work with our Academy's Musical Bridges program, Conservatory students, and to perform at our Musical Bridges fundraiser for the Academy's Musical Bridges outreach program.

April 24, DBR will work with Musical Bridges high school and middle school students at Sumner Academy.   The students will prepare several of DBR's Hip Hop Études  and receive coaching.  They will also prepare one improvisation with DBR for the gala program.  Musical Bridges faculty will prepare and play one piece with DBR for the gala as well.  The Kansas City, Kansas Composers in the Schools students will receive feedback on their works and DBR will select one to perform at the fundraiser. 
April 25, DBR will work with dance faculty Sabrina Madison-Canon's advanced choreography class, which will choreograph a dance to one of DBR's compositions.  He will offer feedback during the class. 

April 26, Musical Bridges fundraiser for the Musical Bridges program, 7:30 pm, Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity, 500 W. Pershing, KCMO.  Tickets for the event are $50, and may be reserved by calling 816-235-2963.  The event will include performances by DBR, Musical Bridges students, and Conservatory students.

There will be a light reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres after the concert.

Performances by Daniel Bernard Roumain are awe-inspiring and his work with our Musical Bridges students and Conservatory students is always uplifting.
