UMKC Conservatory Composition Students Nick Omiccioli and Yu Jiang Win International Awards


DMA Composition student Nick Omiccioli's Reach for string quartet won first prize ($1,000) of the 2013 MACRO Composers Competition, USA, December 1, 2012.  That same piece won the second prize (RMB 10,000) of the 2012 Chengdu-China 8th Sun River Prize Students New Composition Competition, sponsored by Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Chengdu, China, October 18, 2012.  It is one of two second prize winners.
MM Composition student Yu Jiang's Longing for Home for solo violin received the Merit Award ($200) of the 1st Lin Yao Ji International Competition for Composition, Hong Kong, China, December 1, 2012.
