Conservatory Faculty Zhou Long and Conservatory Alum Ingrid Stölzel Have Work Performed at FSU's Festival of New Music
Several of Composer and Composition faculty Zhou Long's compositions and Conservatory alum/ composer Ingrid Stölzel's Panta Rhei are performed at Florida State University College of Music's Festival of New Music. Zhou Long will also present a filmed version of his Pulitzer Prize winning opera Madame White Snake.
Stölzel received her DMA in music composition from the UMKC Conservatory. About her inclusion in the festival, which she will attend, Stölzel said, "I’m thrilled that my wind ensemble piece Panta Rhei (2010) was selected for the final concert, Saturday, February 2, 2013 featuring the FSU University Symphony and Wind Orchestras. Panta Rhei was commissioned and premiered by Steven D. Davis and the UMKC Conservatory Wind Symphony."
Stölzel was just named Director of the International Center for Music at Park University, Parkville, MO.
Florida State University's 16th biennial Festival of New Music is January 31-February 2, 2013, on the FSU Tallahassee campus. More than 35 composers from across the country have been selected to attend performances of their works. The festival will comprise six different concerts featuring acoustic and electroacoustic compositions for both small and large ensembles. The festival will also feature presentations and works by the festival's special guest composer, Zhou Long.
