Flute Alum Christina Webster Appointed to Pittsburg State University
Christina Webster (MM, Flute Performance, 2000; DMA, Flute Performance 2009) has been appointed lecturer in flute at Pittsburg State University, KS; beginning Fall 2012. She served as interim assistant professor of flute at Kansas State University Fall 2010. Dr. Webster is second flutist of the Wichita Symphony and principal flutist of the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, with whom she performed as soloist in several Bach Brandenburg Concertos at the Folly Theatre January 2012. She also performs frequently in the flute section of the Kansas City Symphony.
At UMKC, where her teacher was Dr. Mary Posses, she was a two-time winner of the Concerto/Aria Competition and was the flutist of the UMKC Conservatory Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet. While a graduate student, she won a Fulbright award and spent a year in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with William Bennett and Kate Hill and earned a Postgraduate Performance Diploma. Her undergraduate degree (summa cum laude) in flute and piano is from the University of Kansas. She currently teaches both flute and piano privately in the Kansas City area and is a faculty member of the UMKC Conservatory Community Music and Dance Academy.For more information, please contact:
