Jason Scheufler begins his ninth year as a Recording Engineer at the Conservatory of Music and Dance, where he is the proud recipient of the 2015 Muriel McBrien Kauffman Staff Service Award. Jason has had the privilege of working with local ensembles that include The Fountain City Brass Band, Spire Ensemble, newEar, Te Deum, and Kansas City Youth Symphony. He has produced, engineered, and/or mastered albums for Rebecca Sherburn (Paul Creston Songs, Albany Records, 2014), The William Jewell College Concert Choir (The Trumpet Sounds, Centaur Records, 2015), and Jun Qian (East Meets West Vol. II, Albany Records, 2014). Also a member of the Conservatory’s adjunct faculty, Jason teaches CONS 202/203: Basic Techniques of Audio Recording I and II.
When he’s not busy recording the music of others, Jason enjoys composing and recording his own original music. His cues have been heard in theatrical movie trailers for Are You Here (Millenium, 2014, starring Owen Wilson); The Kings of Summer (CBS Films, 2013, starring Nick Offerman); The Last Excorcism II (CBS Films, 2012) and in programming on NBC (The Tonight Show with Jay Leno), The CW (Reign), HBO (Vice), MTV (Catfish, The Real World), VH1, A&E, and Discovery Channel, among others. He has composed original music in advertisements for Wendy’s, The March of Dimes, and Missouri Lottery.
Jason holds an M.F.A. in Sound Design and Technology from UMKC and a B.M. in Music Education from Friends University.
