TUBA - EUPHONIUM ENSEMBLE

The UMKC Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble is under the direction of Thomas G. Stein, assistant professor of tuba and euphonium. The ensemble averages 16+ students and performs six recital each year. The UMKC Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble is rapidly being recognized as one of the truly outstanding ensembles of its type in the country. Most recently, the ensemble has been featured in the 2006 U.S. Army Band Tuba Euphonium Conference in Washington, D.C., and the 2003, 2005 and 2007 Great Plains Regional Tuba Euphonium Conferences.

Tuba and Euphonium students at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance have the option to participate in tuba quartets in addition to the large ensembles. These quartets perform at least once per semester and are becoming very active in state, regional, and national competitions. In addition to the standard published literature, students and faculty have composed and arranged works in a wide variety of styles for the quartets and large ensemble.
