Conservatory alumni win Grammy Awards, perform in prestigious concert halls around the world and teach at universities in the United States and abroad.
  • Joseph Keeney (B.M.E. '96) has been awarded the 2019–20 NFHS Outstanding Music Educators Award for Missouri. He will be presented with his award Jan. 25 at the Second General Session of the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference. Joseph is orchestra director at Lee's Summit North High School. Congratulations!
  • David Witter's (D.M.A., composition) new appointment is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Music Ministries at Swinney Conservatory of Music, Central Methodist University, Fayette, Missouri. He will teach composition, theory, ensembles and other classes. Congratulations!
  • Conservatory alum Josh East (B.M. '17, horn performance), who studied with Martin Hackleman, has been appointed as second horn in the Tulsa Symphony, Oklahoma. Congrats, Josh!
  • The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Conservatory alum Jan Kraybill (D.M.A. '00, organ performance) has been nominated for a Grammy in Best Classical Instrumental Solo for "The Orchestral Organ." Congratultions, Jan!
  • Maddy Tarantelli (D.M.A., horn performance), who studied with Martin Hackleman, is a Lecturer of Horn at Utah Valley University, Orem. She also teaches private lessons, performance class, pedagogy and literature, aural skills and fundamentals of music theory. Congratulations, Maddy!
