Kansas City, Missouri USA based artist John Davis Carroll received his B.F.A. in Painting 1987 from Swain School of Design in Massachusetts where he studied under David Loeffler Smith. His Graduate studies were at Parsons School of Design in New York City graduating in 1990. He studied under Larry Rivers, Paul Resika and Lelend Bell. In 1993, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he currently resides. Carroll teaches life drawing for the Masters in Theatre Design at UMKC in Kansas City, Missouri, drawing and painting at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas and 2D Design at Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri.
Hosted by Ricoh and CNN in 2014, Carroll was awarded a Ricoh Theta Camera and received Honorable Mention for August submission of a 360 degree spherical photograph taken on the Great Wall of China. He is the recipient of the Lieberman Teaching Excellence Award for Adjunct Faculty at Johnson County Community College in 2014. He was awarded a Studio Residency for a year in 2010 by the Charlotte Street Fund Urban Culture Project / Kansas City, Missouri. Carroll’s artwork has been on display at several corporations recently through ArtsKC. His work has been shown nationally and was recently shown in Taiwan and China. He is represented by the Late Show Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri. The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, Kansas has two of his paintings in their permanent collection and his work is owned by numerous private collectors. Carroll received a “Best of Show” for his new media construction “Winter” in Small Works 2009 at NYU, New York City and for his painting “Nicholson Ave” at the Art of the Center 2008 in Overland Park, Kansas.
