Megan Clewell is a versatile collaborative pianist and voice coach who loves to tell compelling stories through music across an array of styles. Clewell holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Arizona State University, as well as an Artist Diploma in Opera Coaching from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Before joining the faculty at UMKC, she held positions at the University of Central Oklahoma and Knox College. While at UCO, she served as coach for numerous shows and projects, including the American Prize-winning productions of Così fan tutte (2020) and The Consul (2023). She was also a founding member of UCO’s Akouo Trio, which commissioned and performed new works for horn chamber ensemble.
Clewell's extensive experience includes playing for prestigious organizations, including Tulsa Opera Young Artists, Painted Sky Opera, Opera North, Enid Symphony, Knox Galesburg Symphony, Bella Voce Chamber Choir, and Nova Singers. Her festival engagements include the Saarburg and Vianden International Music Festivals, Clear Creek Music Festival, International Horn Symposium, International Women's Brass Conference, and the Oklahoma Haydn Festival. Additionally, she has collaborated with the Oklahoma Flute Society, Oklahoma Thespians, and Opera on Tap OKC.
