Beth Loeber Elswick teaches undergraduate theory and ear training courses. She holds the DMA in organ performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Master of Science in Education (Secondary Music) and the Bachelor of Science in Education (English and Writing) from Southwest Missouri State University, and the Bachelor of Music in organ performance from the University of Arizona. She has previously taught at Longview Community College and in the public school systems in Missouri. Recently, she presented a workshop combining music theory and improvisational skills for organ at the Missouri Music Teachers Conference. A grant recipient of the F. Eugene Miller Foundation, Dr. Elswick serves as a musicologist cataloguing the works of Catherine Urner at the University of California, Berkeley.
An eclectic writer, Dr. Elswick has published articles, reviews, and poetry, in publications as diverse as The Triangle of Mu Phi Epsilon, The American Organist, and The Journal of the International Trumpet Guild. Her recording of original compositions for trumpet and organ, Ecclesiastic Music for Trumpet and Organ composed and arranged by Paul Willwerth was released in julio 2000. She serves as historian on the executive committee of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
