About

Jennifer Parker Burrus is a Kansas City native who loves academia. She earned her BA in Communications (Theatre and Speech Sciences) from DePauw University and her MA in History (Medieval through Early Modern Europe) from UMKC. For more than ten years, she worked as an archivist for the Jackson County Historical Society and the Western Historical Manuscript Collection. She substitute taught in the Shawnee Mission School District for eleven years before returning to UMKC to provide administrative support in the Geosciences Department and then the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences. As a theatre kid herself, Jennifer is thrilled to work with and among the brilliant performing artists of the Conservatory.

Jennifer and her husband, David, have two sons—one is a high school student, and the other attends UMKC. She enjoys baking, cycling, swimming, and beekeeping. Always a joiner, she is active with Staff Council, the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board, her sons’ Boy Scout troop, and her sorority’s alumnae chapter.
