Conservatory Piano Student Kowoon Lee Wins Chancellor's Concerto Competition

The Conservatory is pleased to note that Kowoon Lee, who studies with Robert Weirich, has won the 2017 Chancellor's Concerto Competition.  She will perform Saint-Saens's Piano Concerto No. 5 in F Major, Op. 103 with the Conservatory Orchestra, directed by Robert Olson, Spring 2018.

Violinist Elaine Ng was selected as the alternate.

Other competitors included Chi Him Chik, saxophone; Andrew Stadler, trumpet; Nathaniel Humphrey, violin; Christian Atteberry, piano; and Gabriella Roderer, flute.

Congratulations to all of the students who competed and thank you to our judges Joseph Giunta, Music Director of the Des Moines Symphony and pianist Jon Hynes.
