Composition Student Josiah Sprankle Wins Prestigious Presser Award

The UMKC Conservatory is pleased to note that Composition student, junior Josiah Sprankle has been chosen by the faculty for the prestigious Presser Foundation Undergraduate Scholar Award for the 2018–2019 academic year.

As the recipient of this prestigious award, Sprankle receives $4000.00 to be used at his discretion—this may be applied toward tuition, housing costs and other expenses normally incurred in pursuit of a degree or for musical advancement opportunities not normally provided in a university or conservatory setting.

Josiah was selected for this award based on his academic and musical achievements at UMKC during his first three years of study.  Recently Josiah won the 2017–2018 Young Composers Competition sponsored by Arden and Harry Fisher, Community Music School, Webster University.  Sprankle was the winner in the level two (17–21 years of age) section with his composition Sanguine and Phlegmatic.
