Conservatory Vocal Students Win at MET District Auditions

The Conservatory is pleased to announce that Conservatory student Alice Chung, who is working on a Performer's Certificate and studies with Vinson Cole, has won the MET district audition, held in Kansas City, January 20, 2018.  She moves on to the regionals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, March 17, 2018.  Performer's Certificate student Armando Contreras, who also studies with Vinson Cole, won an Encouragement Award at the same audition.  Congratulations!  Both students are part of the YAP, Young Artists Program with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City.

Vinson Cole also teaches Tim Murray and Marlen Nahhas, who were district winners as well and are part of the Kansas City Lyric Opera's RAP, Resident Artists Program, along with Cole student Martin Clark, who won an Encouragement Award.

Conservatory faculty Vinson Cole, who is a UMKC alum won the 1977 MET auditions in New York City and had a world-renowned opera career.  Recently, Mr. Cole was nominated to the board of directors of the prestigious Sullivan Foundation in New York City.
