The Conservatory is pleased to welcome Dr. Michelle Alexander who joins us Fall 2018 as Assistant Teaching Professor and Vocal Coach/Accompanist. Dr. Alexander holds her Doctorate in Coaching/Accompanying from the University of Minnesota. She received her Master’s Degree in Coaching/Accompanying from the New England Conservatory of Music and her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Alexander joins the Conservatory from Boston where she was a faculty member at Boston University and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Song Literature, Diction for Singers, and Opera Arias for Pianists. She has been on the coaching staff of Florida Grand Opera, Minnesota Opera, Gold Coast Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, as well as on the opera faculty at the New World School of the Arts, Miami, Florida. She is currently working with the Boston Lyric Opera as Chorus Master, Assistant Conductor, and rehearsal pianist. Dr. Alexander recently performed with the world renowned mezzo-soprano, Frederica von Stade as a part of her farewell recital tour. She is currently a member of the OperaWorks faculty in Los Angeles, CA and is the Chorus Master/Coach for Opera NEO in San Diego, CA.
